Michael Jerome Oliver, 57, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:20 P.M., Sunday, January 16, 2005 at his residence.
Mike had worked as a mechanic for Chip Banks Chevrolet since April 1995. Mike was a US Air Force veteran and retired after 21 years of service to his country. He retired as a Tech. Sgt. having served three tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was a Baptist. He was a member of the NRA and the Air Force Sargent's Association.
He was born May 23, 1947 at Cairo, IL the son of Patrick Franklin and Dimple M. (Harp) Oliver.
Mike married Pamela Sue McCormick on December 30, 1995 at Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, children- Patrick Michael Oliver and wife Misty Dawn of Little Rock, AR, Adam Wayne Jenkins and wife Melanie of Belleville, IL, Amanda Marie Oliver Hargis of Du Quoin, Paul David Jenkins and Special Friend- Mindy Youroukos of Naperville, IL, three grandchildren- Kaitlynn Ryane Oliver, Jared Michael Oliver and Olivia Marie Hargis, mother- Dimple M. Harp Oliver King of Du Quoin, father- Patrick Franklin Oliver and wife Jeanette of Kalispell, MT, brothers & sisters- Geraldine Smith of Long Lake, FL, Ronald Lee King of Springfield, IL, Doris Jean Walters of Springfield, IL, Charles Lynn King of Naples, FL, Ricky Dale King of Du Quoin, Steve Allen King of Du Quoin, Jerry Lee King of Du Quoin, Deborah Louise Oliver of Indianapolis, IN, Best Friend- Dan Fletcher of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his father- Gerald King, father & mother-in-law- Paul and Edna McCormick, father-in-law- John Burton "Mac" McCloughan, and brother-in-law- Charles Edward Walters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with his uncle Rev. James Drysdale officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted.
Friends may make memorials to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
